New Gas Line to Improve Service in Hays
A new gas line being built in east Hays will improve reliability and accommodate future growth.
Areas of Hays north of I-70 are currently served by one natural gas line, which feeds from the west. Additionally, as housing and commercial development has filled in on the eastern side of the city, maintaining constant pressure has been more challenging during peak usage periods. As a solution, Midwest Energy is building a new 6" gas main to serve east Hays, and to create a loop for businesses north of I-70. The new line will allow for improved gas service for existing and additional commercial and residential facilities in both areas.
All company welders, corrosion control technicians and Hays gas personnel have been working since early June along Commerce Parkway in Hays, along with M&D Construction, to build the new line.
The $2.5 million project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2024.
